Fundraising and Non-Profits

Shared savings meets fundraising – finally a NEW way to raise funds!

At Accretive of San Diego, we believe very strongly in our responsibility to give back to our local and worldwide community through those organizations that serve the underserved and less fortunate in and around San Diego and for that matter, anywhere humanitarian needs exist that need attention.

We all know how the recession that started in 2008 has adversely (to put it mildly) impacted  most charitable Non-Profits in every community and they ALL are leaning more and more on businesses to help.   Therefore, to do our part, we have made nonprofits a co-beneficiary of our work as follows:

We help our for-profits clients give a LOT to non-profits:

  • We reduce our fees to our FOR-PROFIT by 5% of the gross savings we find in a client if they will match that 5% (or more) so that at least 10% of savings we help a for profit company achieve is shared with their chosen nonprofit(s) for at least one year.  This can extend beyond one year if the for-profit company wishes to do so.

We also direct up to 15% of OUR revenues to nonprofits:

  • 10% of our revenues are paid over 12 months (as we collect our revenue) to the person or firm who leads us into for-profit companies.  Often the referring party prefers to redirect these funds to nonprofits of their choosing.
  • 5% of our revenues are paid to the nonprofits of our choosing – unless the for-profit client lead came from a nonprofit, in which case THAT nonprofit will receive this 5% share over 12 months as we collect our revenue.

Example:

A Non-profit refers Accretive to a for profit the nonprofit has a relationship with and Accretive saves that company $500,000 over 12 months.

  1. The for-profit ends up donating at least $50,000 (10%) to the nonprofit who referred Accretive, thanks to 5% from Accretive and 5% from the for-profit company. Note the company may elect to donate more than 5% and for more than one year!
  2. Accretive earns $165,000 (35%) from the engagement and donates:
    1. $16,500 (10% of Accretive’s share) for the referral the nonprofit provided;
    2. $ 8,250 (5% of Accretive’s share) from Accretive’s charitable giving program;
  3. Final “score”:
    1. For-profit company saves a net $285,000 / 57%: ($500,000- $50,000-$165,000=$285,000)
    2. Accretive earns $140,250 / 28%: ($165,000-$16,500-$8,250=$140,250)
    3. Nonprofit ends up with $74,750 / 14% ($50,000+$16,500+8,250)
